Evaluations and runs

An evaluation is an assessment that the AI Ready team writes, versions, and publishes. You can’t create or edit your own, you take the ones that are available to your organisation. You’ll see them under Evaluations → AI Readiness. (In the assessment screens themselves, an evaluation is often called an assessment.) A run is one attempt at an evaluation. A run shows as In progress until you submit it, as Completed once submitted, and as Abandoned if it was discarded. Because an evaluation is versioned, a run keeps showing the version it started on, even if a newer version is published later.

Which one should I take?

Start with the Quick Assessment. There is no other correct answer, it’s the only one open to you at first, and the Full Assessment is deliberately locked behind it.
Don’t wait until you can answer everything perfectly. A run you submit with honest “we don’t know” answers is far more useful than one you never finish, and re-running it later is the point. Your plan includes a set number of runs and a retake waiting period, so make each one count — see Allowances and retake waits.

Quick and Full assessments

You start with the Quick Assessment, a short snapshot of your AI readiness. The Full Assessment is a deeper version whose prerequisite clears once you’ve completed the Quick Assessment. Until then it stays locked, with the reason “Complete the Quick Assessment first.” After that, on the Free plan, a Full Assessment run is started with an advisor — yours, or one you request a match with from the assessment’s card — and your organisation is paced by the retake waiting period between Full runs.
An assessment is organised into sections, and you answer one section at a time. The header shows where you are, for example “Section 2 of 7”; the count includes the final Review step, where you check your answers before you submit.

Assessments included in your plan

An assessment can also be held back by what your organisation’s plan covers. On the Free plan the Full Assessment is part of your plan but includes no self-serve runs: once its prerequisite clears, its card shows “Full Assessment allowance used”, “Your plan’s included runs are used up.”, and offers Request an advisor match as the way forward, because an advisor can start the run for you. An assessment that is not part of your plan at all shows:
  • An overlay on its card reading [Assessment] is locked, “This assessment is not included in your plan.”
  • A Locked badge where the assessment’s state normally shows.
  • No Start and no Continue, anywhere. A locked assessment is dropped from your dashboard alerts, and a Continue link into it returns you to the assessments list. It still appears in Find, which searches the whole catalogue.
This lock is about your organisation’s plan, not about your role or your progress. It is not the same as the Full Assessment’s prerequisite, which you clear by completing the Quick Assessment. If you think your organisation should have access, talk to your advisor or contact us.

Allowances and retake waits

Assessments your plan does include come with an allowance (how many runs are included) and, for some, a retake waiting period after an attempt. These show up as:
  • A footer on the assessment’s card reading, for example, “1 of 1 included run left.” while you still have runs available.
  • An overlay reading “[Assessment] allowance used” once the included runs are spent. This is not the same as locked: the assessment is part of your plan, there is simply no run left right now. If you work with an advisor, they may be able to start a run for you.
  • An overlay naming the assessment, with the date and time you can take it again, for example “You can retake this from 15 Oct 2026, 09:30.”, after a recent attempt. Answering any part of a run counts as an attempt, so resetting a run you have worked on does not clear the wait. Starting a run and resetting it without answering anything does not start a wait at all: carried-over answers you never touched are not progress.
  • “Started by {Advisor Org}.” in place of the count, where the run was funded by an advisor rather than from your own allowance. If we cannot show the firm’s name it reads “Started by your advisor.”
You can Request an advisor match at more than one point: a quiet prompt on the overview once a run is in progress, a gentle prompt just after you submit, and its most prominent place on your finished report. They are all the same one-time request, and your organisation sends it once. After you’ve sent it, each place stops asking again: the overview prompt goes away, and your report shows a short status line with a link to Organisation → Advisors in place of the button. Where a locked feature offered the request, that control simply stays greyed out, and hovering it shows “Request received. We’ll be in touch.” You follow the request through on Organisation → Advisors, which shows its state: requested, in review, matched, declined, or on hold. An advisor starting an assessment for you uses your organisation’s allowance first and their own after that; the retake waiting period always applies to your organisation, whoever started the run.

Submitting locks a run

When you submit a run, it’s frozen: it becomes a read-only record of what you answered and can’t be edited. If you want to answer differently, you take the assessment again, which creates a new run, your submitted runs are never changed.

Re-taking an assessment

  • The start button always reads Start new, whether it is your first attempt or a re-take.
  • You can only have one run in progress at a time for an assessment, “One in-progress run at a time; continue or reset the current run first.” Either continue the run you have open, or reset it.
  • Resetting discards an in-progress run so you can start fresh. The dialog is titled Reset progress?, “This discards your in-progress run so you can start a new one. This action is logged.” Resetting only affects the in-progress draft; your submitted history stays intact.
  • The Full Assessment stays gated behind completing the Quick Assessment.
