# Scores and reports

> What happens after you submit a run, how a report is generated, and how to read and export it.

## Scoring is done in the background

When you submit a run, AI Ready scores it in the background rather than instantly. The
run's state moves on to **Scored** once that's done, so you don't have to wait on the
screen after submitting.

Your results belong to your **organisation**, not to you personally, anyone with the
right role in your organisation works from the same runs and results.

## Your report is generated after you submit

Once a run is scored, AI Ready writes an **AI readiness report** from it. You don't
trigger this, and you don't have to wait on the page for it.

The status is shown wherever the run appears:

| What you see | What it means |
| ---------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Checking report…** | AI Ready is looking up the current state. |
| **Your report is being generated** | *"Analysis usually takes a few minutes. This updates automatically, so there's no need to refresh."* |
| **Still being generated** | It's taking longer than usual, *"This is taking longer than usual. Check again in a moment."* Select **Check again**. |
| **Report ready** | Select **View report** to open it. |
| **No report for this assessment** | *"This assessment type doesn't generate a report."* |

<Note>
  The panel refreshes itself while a report is being generated, so you can leave it open
  or come back later. **Dashboard → Notifications** also tells you when a report for a
  recent submission is ready.
</Note>

### Where the link to a report appears

* On the **completed run** you opened from an assessment, in a **Report** section above
  **Answers** and **History**.
* On the run's full record page, in the same **Report** section.
* On the assessment page itself, once a report exists for your latest run.
* As **See report** inside an **Allowance used** overlay, or one telling you when you can
  retake, where the run underneath it completed. The overlay makes the card inert, so this
  is the way through to a report you have already earned.
* In the **⋯** menu on any row of the **All runs** table: **View report** when it's
  ready, **Checking report…** while it loads, **Report pending** while it's still being
  generated, and **No report** when that run's version doesn't produce one.

## Reading your report

A report is long, and you don't have to read it end to end. It's built so you can stop
after ten minutes with a decision, or keep going when you need the reasoning.

### If you only have ten minutes

<Steps>
  <Step title="Read the executive summary">
    At the top, beside your score gauge. It's the whole report in a paragraph. If you
    only ever read one thing, read this.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Look at the score profile, not the number">
    The radar chart shows how you scored across each dimension. **The shape matters more
    than the overall score.** An even shape means broad, steady work. A spiky one means a
    couple of specific weaknesses dragging you down, and those are usually the cheapest
    things to fix. Select a dimension in the legend to jump to it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to the implementation roadmap">
    This is the section that tells you what to actually do, in order. Everything above it
    is diagnosis; this is the prescription.
  </Step>
</Steps>

That's enough to decide what happens next. The rest of the report exists to justify it.

### Which section answers which question

| You're asking                         | Read                                                                                                                   |
| ------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| How are we doing overall? | The score gauge, band, and **Executive summary** |
| Where exactly are we weak? | **Dimension score profile**, then the weak dimension's own section |
| What do we do first? | **Your next steps** on a Quick Assessment; **Your roadmap** on a Full Assessment |
| What could go wrong if we do nothing? | **Risk analysis** |
| What are we leaving on the table? | **What you're missing out on** |
| How do the answers connect? | **Connected insights**, cards that flag where answers contradict, reinforce, or sit in tension with each other |
| Why should we believe any of this? | **Industry context** (Full Assessment), each fact carries a link to its source |
| How does this look from outside? | **Buyer perspective**, Full Assessment |
| What is a year of no change worth? | **The cost of standing still**, Full Assessment: your own cost answer as a yearly figure, then what that money goes to |

On a **Full Assessment**, each dimension also carries a classified **finding**
(blocker, core, critical, strategic, or strength) written for your business, and
**Your roadmap** lays out three fixed phases (Foundation, Momentum, Comprehensive),
each with its effort and price band and the findings it takes on. We never put a figure
on your business that we made up: the only amounts we set are the roadmap's fixed price
bands, and the yearly figure in **The cost of standing still** is your own monthly cost
answer multiplied by twelve. Anywhere else a dollar amount appears, it comes from a
published source we link to in **Industry context**.

### Inside a dimension

Each dimension gets its own section, headed with the dimension's name, and each one
answers the same three questions in the same order:

* **Where you are**, the honest read on today.
* **What to do**, the action. This is the part you can assign to someone.
* **Why it matters**, the argument you'll need when someone asks why it's worth the
  budget.

A risk belonging to a particular dimension sits inside that dimension's section with its
severity marked, rather than being filed away separately, so you see the danger next to
the fix.

<Tip>
  Working through a weak dimension with your team? Use **Add note** in the rail to capture
  what you decided while the reasoning is in front of you, and share it with your team so
  the decision doesn't live in one person's head. See [Notes](/using/notes).
</Tip>

<Note>
  A report only contains the sections its analysis produced, so yours may not have every
  section listed here. Nothing is missing if a section doesn't appear, there was simply
  nothing substantiated to put in it.
</Note>

A **Generated from** card beside the document shows which submission the report was
written from, and **View input** opens it.

## Exporting a report as a PDF

**Export PDF** sits in the left rail, under **Add note**, so it's reachable at any point
in the document.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select Export PDF">
    The button reads **Exporting…** while it works.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The file downloads to your device">
    The export is produced in your browser, at the moment you ask for it. Nothing is
    stored or sent anywhere, and there are no options to set.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The PDF is A4 portrait, always in the light theme regardless of the theme you're using
on screen, with the AI Ready mark in the header and a **Page 1 of n** footer. Page breaks
are placed so a card, list item, or section isn't cut in half. Sections that are
collapsed on screen are opened for the export, so nothing is missing from the file. The
filename comes from the report's own title.

## Notes on a report

Every report has a **Notes** section, and **Add note** in the rail. See
[Notes](/using/notes).

## Reviewing a completed run

You can reopen any submitted run to see exactly what was answered. A completed run opens
as a read-only record:

* It's headed with the assessment's name and **Completed \[date] · Started \[date]**.
* It has a **Report** section, an **Answers** section (your responses, read-only), and a
  **History** section.
* From the quick view you can **Open full record** or **View all history**.

Because a submitted run is locked, everything here is read-only. To answer differently,
take the assessment again, see [Assessments](/using/assessments).

## Finding your past runs and reports

Each assessment lists your previous runs. On an assessment's overview there's a **Full
history** view, and the assessment page has an **All runs** list of your completed and
in-progress runs.

**Reports** in the sidebar (**Capabilities → Reports**) lists every report your
organisation can see in one place. You can also reach a report from
[Find](/using/navigating#find-k).
