# Profile and organisation

> First-time setup: create or join your organisation, complete your personal profile, and add optional organisation details.

The first time you sign in, AI Ready sets up your organisation and your personal profile.
What you see depends on your verified work-email domain.

## Setting up your organisation

The setup wizard at **/get-started** has three steps, shown as tabs: **Organisation**,
**You**, and **Confirm**.

### Step 1: Organisation

If your domain doesn't match an existing organisation, this screen is headed **Set up
your organisation**, *"We use your verified work email to create the right
organisation."*, and the card reads **Create your organisation**.

| Field | Required | Notes |
| ------------------------- | -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Verified email** | n/a | Read-only. *"The account you signed in with."* |
| **Work domain** | n/a | Read-only. *"Used to find the right organisation."* |
| **Organisation name** | Yes | Your organisation's name. |
| **Organisation category** | Yes | Choose from the list (**Select a category**). |
| **Country** | Yes | Choose from the full country list; Australia is selected by default. The experience is currently optimised for Australian organisations at this stage. |

<Warning>
**Country and category are permanent.** As the screen states: *"Country and category are
permanent. They can't be changed after you create your organisation."* Choose carefully,
there is no way to change them later.
</Warning>

### Step 2: You

Headed **Create your Profile**, *"Tell us a little about you."*

| Field | Required | Notes |
| --------------------- | -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Full name** | Yes | Your name. |
| **Business function** | Yes | Choose from the list (**Select your business function**). |
| **Mobile** | No | *"Used only for account-related contact, never marketing."* |

### Step 3: Confirm

Review your details, then tick the consent box: *"I agree to AI Ready handling my account
and organisation information to provide the service and send essential service
communications."* (with **Privacy Policy** and **Terms** links). Select **Create
organisation** to finish. On earlier steps the button reads **Continue**, and **Back**
returns to the previous step.

## Joining an existing organisation

If your domain already matches an open organisation, the wizard is headed **Join your
organisation**, *"We matched your verified work email to an existing organisation."* The
card reads **Join \[organisation]**, notes **You'll join as a member**, and the button
reads **Join \[organisation]**. You still complete the **You** step and consent, but you
don't create anything, you join automatically as a member, with no approval to wait for.
(Owners and admins can also [invite colleagues by email](/accounts/team-members); an
invitation sets your role, but anyone on the verified domain can join without one.)

## What can happen at setup

Which of these four you see is decided by your email domain:

| Outcome | What you see |
| ------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **New organisation** | **Set up your organisation** → **Create your organisation**. Your domain is new, so you create the organisation and become its owner. |
| **Join an open organisation** | **Join your organisation** → **Join \[organisation]**, *"You'll join as a member."* |
| **Joining is turned off** | **Automatic joining is disabled**, *"This organisation is protected by an administrator and cannot be joined automatically."* with **Use a different account**. |
| **Personal or webmail address** | **Use your organisation account**, *"Personal Google, Microsoft, or webmail accounts can't be used here. Sign in with your organisation account so we can securely match you to your organisation."* |

## Completing your organisation profile (optional)

After setup you can add more detail at **/get-started/profile**, headed **Complete your
organisation profile**, *"Optional; you can finish this anytime from Organisation →
Overview."* Only owners and admins can fill this in.

| Section | Field | Required |
| --------- | --------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Identity | **Registered legal business name** | Yes |
| Identity | **Trading name** | No (*"Same as legal name"* if left blank) |
| Industry | **Industry** | Yes |
| Workforce | **How many people work in the organisation?** | Yes |
| Workforce | **Overhead staff (%)** | Yes |
| Financial | **Approximate annual revenue** | Yes |
| Financial | **Year founded** | Yes |

Select **Save profile** to store it, or **Skip for now** to do it later.

## If an advisor set your organisation up

Some organisations are first entered by an advisor working on their behalf. If that's
you, your dashboard shows review alerts after you first sign in: **Review your
organisation profile** and **Review advisor permissions**. Select **Review** on each,
check what the advisor entered, and confirm, edit, or revoke as you see fit. The details
are in [Notifications and alerts](/using/notifications-and-alerts).

## Changing your details later

* Your **personal profile** can be updated from your personal settings (**/settings/personal**).
* Your **organisation profile** (the optional details above) can be edited by owners and
  admins from **Organisation → Overview**.
* Your organisation's **category** and **country** can never be changed.
